Dr Claire O’Driscoll

General Practitioner

Dr Claire O’Driscoll grew up in Kentstown, a short distance from Johnstown, and attended primary school in Kentstown and secondary school in Loreto, Navan. She went on to study Medicine at Trinity College Dublin and completed her GP training in the North-East Training Scheme.

Before establishing Bailis GP, Claire spent 12 years working in Balbriggan. She then spent a year working in Navan and locuming in Longwood, before returning to Navan to set up her own practice. Claire brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to community healthcare.

A mum of four, Claire balances family life with her passion for providing accessible, compassionate medical care. She has a particular interest in women’s health, family medicine and preventive care. Claire previously served as a Meath County Councillor — an experience that deepened her understanding of community needs and strengthened her connection to the people of the area.

Dr Deirdre Smith

Dr Deirdre Smith

Dr Deirdre Smith grew up in County Meath. She studied medicine at the University of Limerick, graduating with a first class honours degree in 2015. In addition, she holds an Honours Bachelor of Science degree from Trinity College Dublin.

Dr Smith completed her internship at St James’s Hospital in Dublin. Following this, she commenced basic Specialist Paediatric training and obtained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 2018.

She has a strong interest in women’s health, including antenatal and menopause care, and holds a Diploma from the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She is a registered smear taker and certified LARC provider.

Dr Smith has additional training in dermatology and obtained a Diploma in Clinical Dermatology with distinction from Queen Mary University of London.

Dr Smith is passionate about mental health care and received the University of Limerick’s Gold Medal for overall student prize in Psychiatry in 2015.

Dr Smith completed her general practice training with the TCD GP Training Scheme and obtained Membership of the Irish College of General Practitioners in 2021. She has worked in various teaching hospitals including St James’s Hospital, the Mater Hospital, Tallaght University Hospital, Temple Street Children’s Hospital and the Coombe Hospital. She has been practising as a general practitioner since 2019.

Dr Smith is passionate about general practice. She enjoys the variety of work and the opportunity to build relationships with her patients.

Dr Smith lives in County Meath with her husband and baby son.

Dr Sarah-Jane Nugent

Dr Sarah-Jane Nugent

Dr Sarah-Jane is a native of Carnaross, County Meath, and a graduate of the UCD School of Medicine (2003). She completed GP training in 2007, becoming a member of the Irish College of General Practitioners.

She worked in general practice until 2016 before joining the HSE as a Community Medical Doctor in County Louth, providing child health clinics and overseeing school vaccination programmes. She has a particular interest in paediatrics, holding a Diploma in Child Health and a Certificate in Community Paediatrics, and is currently completing postgraduate studies in Early Childhood Neurodisability at Trinity College Dublin. She offers assessment for children with dyspraxia and is passionate about supporting children’s development and well-being.

Dr Sarah-Jane also has extensive experience in women’s health, holding a Certificate in Community Gynaecology. She provides comprehensive care in contraception, menopause management and general gynaecological health, including LARC and copper coil insertions.

An active member of Kells Athletic Club, she also holds a Diploma in Musculoskeletal Medicine and previously served as team doctor for the Meath Gaelic football team from 2007 to 2010. Having returned to part-time general practice in 2022, Dr Sarah-Jane is delighted to join Dr Claire O’Driscoll and the team in Johnstown, bringing extensive experience, clinical expertise and a strong community focus to her patients.

Originally from Harold’s Cross in Dublin, Sarah May has proudly called Meath home for the past 26 years. With 16 years of experience as a Practice Nurse, Sarah brings a warm, friendly, and energetic approach to patient care every day.

Known for her kind and caring nature, she is deeply dedicated to both her patients and her colleagues.

Sarah is passionate about continuous learning and professional development, always striving to expand her skills and provide the highest standard of care.

Now a qualified Nurse Prescriber, she also carries out a wide range of clinical services in the practice, including venepuncture and ABIs.

Sarah’s positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to excellence make her a highly valued member of our team.

We’re delighted to have Caitríona Smith as the friendly face at the front desk of Bailis GP. Warm, kind and endlessly welcoming, Caitríona brings her gentle manner and cheerful smile to everyone who comes through our doors. Her goal is to make the reception area feel calm, caring and comfortable so that patients feel instantly at ease and reassured when they arrive.

Caitríona meets and greets our patients with warmth, dedication and good humour — qualities that make her such a valued part of our team.
